  • Highlight today’s objectives:
  • Discovering God’s purpose through Scripture and reflection.

Scripture to Read Aloud:

  • Romans 12:1-2: Presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice and renewing our minds to discern God’s will.
  • Proverbs 19:21: Many plans are in a man’s heart, but the Lord’s purpose prevails.

2. Icebreaker Activity: “Two Truths and a Purpose” (15 minutes)

Objective: To introduce participants to each other and open the conversation about personal purpose and conviction.

Activity Instructions:

  • Ask participants to share two truths about themselves and one personal purpose or conviction they believe God is revealing to them.
  • The group will briefly discuss each participant’s “purpose” and how it might align with God’s broader calling.

Discussion Prompt:

  • How have your past life experiences shaped the conviction or purpose you shared today?

3. Teaching: Discovering Your God-Given Purpose (20 minutes)

Bible or Digital Scripture Resources

  • Ensure each participant has access to either a physical Bible or a digital Bible app (such as YouVersion or Bible Gateway).
  • Prepare a digital scripture guide that contains key references for each part of the workshop:
  • Romans 12:1-2: Presenting ourselves as a living sacrifice.
  • Matthew 28:19-20: The Great Commission.
  • 1 Peter 4:10: Using gifts to serve others.

Key Teaching Points:

  • Discipleship: Growing in Christ’s image (Ephesians 4:13).

  • Mission: Spreading the Gospel and making disciples (Matthew 28:19-20).

Scripture Focus:

  • Ephesians 2:10: We are God’s handiwork, created for good works.
  • Jeremiah 29:11: God’s plans for us are good, to give us a future and hope.

Example: Share the story of Moses being called to lead the Israelites. Emphasize how God used Moses’ life experiences, convictions, and gifts to fulfill a greater purpose.

Transition to Activity: Encourage participants to reflect on the questions:

  • What purpose has God placed on your heart?
  • How is God asking you to respond to the needs around you?

4. Purpose Reflection Worksheet Activity (20 minutes)

Objective: Participants reflect on their personal convictions and how their talents, experiences, and life circumstances align with God’s calling.

Instructions:

  • Distribute the “Purpose Reflection Worksheet” to each participant.
  • Ask participants to take 10 minutes to reflect and answer the questions on the worksheet.
  • Facilitator should circulate, providing encouragement and answering questions.

Reflection Questions:

  • What is wrong in your immediate world (family, community, workplace)?
  • Who is struggling around you that you feel called to help?
  • How do your gifts and experiences align with meeting these needs?

5. Small Group Breakout: Mapping Convictions to Ministry (30 minutes)

Objective: Encourage participants to share their reflections and brainstorm how to turn these convictions into ministry ideas.

Instructions:

  • Divide participants into small groups of 4-5 people.
  • Ask each person to share one key conviction they wrote down during the reflection time.
  • As a group, help each person identify how they can translate this conviction into a specific ministry or service area.

Facilitator Role:

  • Walk between groups, listening to discussions.
  • Offer guidance and scripture as needed, reminding participants that ministry can be big or small, as long as it’s Spirit-led.

Scripture Prompts:

  • James 2:14-17: Faith without works is dead—how can your faith inspire action?
  • Galatians 6:2: Carry each other’s burdens to fulfill the law of Christ.
