Group Discussion Prompts: Day 2, Session 3

Group Discussion Prompts: Structured questions to encourage deep reflection and practical application in small groups.

Objective:

These prompts are designed to help participants reflect on how they can develop Christ-like compassion and humility in their lives, and how this perspective can shape their ministry and service to others.

1. Seeing Others Through Christ’s Eyes:

  • Who in your life or community do you struggle to see with compassion?
  • Think of someone who challenges your patience or understanding. How do you think Christ sees that person?
  • What might change if you saw them through the eyes of Christ?

Follow-up Question:

  • How does viewing others with Christ-like compassion change your attitude or actions toward them?
  • How can this shift in perspective shape the way you serve them?

2. Responding to Brokenness:

  • Where do you see brokenness in your community that moves you to compassion?
  • Identify a specific need or issue that you feel called to address. How can you respond as Christ would?
  • How has Christ responded to your own brokenness, and how can you mirror that grace in your ministry?

Follow-up Question:

  • What steps can you take to address this need in your community?
  • What are practical ways you can begin to serve those who are hurting or in need?

3. Serving with Humility:

  • How does Christ’s example of humility challenge the way you serve others?
  • Think about how Jesus humbled Himself to serve, even washing His disciples’ feet (John 13:1-17). How can you model that humility in your service?
  • What does it look like to put others first in your life and ministry?

Follow-up Question:

  • What is one area of your life where you can practice humility this week?
  • Reflect on a specific action or behavior where you can serve others with Christ-like humility.

4. Loving as Christ Loves:

  • How does Jesus’ command to love one another as He has loved us (John 13:34-35) challenge you?
  • What does it mean to love others with the same kind of sacrificial love that Jesus demonstrated?
  • How can you practice this kind of love in your relationships, ministry, and service?

Follow-up Question:

  • What is one tangible way you can show Christ-like love to someone this week?
  • Think of a person in your life who needs love and compassion. How can you serve them with Christ’s love?

Additional Scripture References for Group Discussion:

  • Matthew 9:36: Jesus had compassion on the crowds, seeing their need for guidance and care.
  • Philippians 2:5-8: Christ’s example of humility and selflessness.
  • John 13:34-35: Jesus’ command to love others as He has loved us.
  • Luke 10:33-37: The Good Samaritan, showing mercy and love to a stranger.

Encourage participants to share stories, reflect on how they can embody Christ’s compassion and humility, and pray together for the strength to serve others with a Christ-like heart.
